- A skater
at The Wave skatepark located in Oklahoma City.
|
I went out to skate a few of the parks
and the pics are posted below. There was a brand new park built out of
steel located in Norman, Oklahoma which is about 20 minutes outside of
OKC. It was pretty small but they did a decent job laying it out minus
the mini ramp. The mini had a 7ft section that dropped down to a 4
foot section which was to much of a drastic change in size for my
liking. The spine was cool as well as the hip and funbox.
Next park that I
hit was "The Wave" in Oklahoma City. Pretty cool setup here,
the manager Ron was really cool and has been on my mailing list for
awhile so it was good to finally meet him. I guess the park was kind
of under construction and some of the ramps needed some work but he
had big plans for the coming months including a bowl outside, redoing
the vert and mini ramps and changing the street course around a
little. Both parks were good in my book and I had a good time rolling
around both of them.
Next stop was the
OKC bombing memorial. I remember seeing that on tv a few years back
but actually going there and experiencing what happened that day first
hand was pretty narly. They did a good job with the memorial site and
put 168 gold chairs to represent the people that lost their lives that
day. There was also a huge shallow pool that took up the street in
front of the building before the bomb went off as well as a memorial
mueseam you could check out and see what happened. This was located in
the Journal Record Building which was located across the street of the
bombing and they made a part of what used to be the mens restroom part
of it and you can see how much destruction was caused even from across
the street. For more information on the memorial and pictures you can
go to their site.
